How Covid-19 has Changed the Future of Education?

How Covid-19 has Changed the Future of Education?

How covid 19 has changed education and what future holds?

What do you do if your country is at threat of a deadly disease? A disease that can spread from one person to another. Yes, you are right. I am talking about covid 19. So what should you do to prevent your country, your people and, your children from covid19? True, you close down everything so that people don’t get in touch with one other and the spread of this disease can be stopped. This is exactly what the governments globally did. They closed down with the entire nation including educational institutions. This forced the students to remain at home. This crisis didn’t seem to be coming to an end. But is it possible to bring education to a standstill.?certainly not. Therefore the educational institutions found alternate means to provide education so that the teaching and the learning can go on and simultaneously children can be prevented from the deadly disease. Educational institutions started with online distance education using online platforms.

So, how has covid 19 impacted the educational sector, and what does the future hold?

Covid is responsible for disrupting the educational system but it has also provided an opportunity for the education sector to reimagine education. And even after coming out of the covid 19 pandemics, we will see certain inevitable changes in the way education is imparted to the children. So let's look at the changes we will see in the future in the educational sector.

Online learning to be an indispensable part of school education

Though colleges, universities, and schools have to rely on online education for imparting knowledge however certain people wonder whether online education will come to an end after the covid-19 crisis comes to an end. certainly not. online education will be accelerated and it will become an integral part of our education system. Anyone who thinks that teaching via digital platforms is temporary is wrong because when academics are just a finger click away then why put hundreds of people into a room for consuming information? Therefore teaching will not return to the way teaching was done in pre covid times. Virtual reality will become extremely important in teaching.

Future will be of blended learning

A crisis like covid 19 can happen in the future too. Is the education system prepared to handle crisis like covid 19 in the future? Not now but the education system will have to be prepared for crisis like covid 19 even post covid 19 is over. Therefore education system will be a blend of face-to-face teaching and digital teaching. This will ensure that switching from face-to-face teaching to digital teaching will not be a problem

Educators role will have to be redefined

The educator no longer is the one who imparts wisdom to the students because students have learned to access information by certain clicks. What would be the role of an educator then? Educator will have to facilitate learners development in such a manner that he/she contributes towards making good citizens of the society by inculcating moral and ethical values which computer knowledge cannot do.

Training of teachers to be different qualitatively

Covid 19 has revealed the unpreparedness of teachers in online teaching. So the training to be given to the teachers will undergo a change and all the teachers will have to be prepared for online teaching

Integrating technology to be further accelerated

Covid 19 has taught us that technology can be beneficial in the educational system and can reduce time to complete tasks consuming a lot of time like evaluating paper setting, and grading. Technology will help teachers to concentrate on improving course material and teaching effectively. Therefore technology will play a big role in imparting quality education.

Interactivity to be built in online programs

Teaching physically is highly interactive which is not the case in online teaching. Therefore teachers and trainers will have to find new methods of increasing inactivity so that the students can enjoy the learning experience.

Pandemic has posed many challenges for the teachers, parents, and the students but it has made all of us think that what are we teaching? What are we preparing our students for? And we all need to rethink how we educate? Educators have learned new ways of communicating with the students being away from classrooms. Therefore let us all design the learning as it should look to the future generations and turn the learning during the pandemic into an opportunity.
